Getting to Düsseldorf Airport

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is conveniently located in the heart of the Rhineland and is easily reached from all of North Rhine-Westphalia – whether by rail, SkyTrain or your own car via the A44 motorway. We show you the fastest routes to the airport.

By rail: S-Bahn, regional express and ICE

The airport has two railway stations. Directly beneath the terminals is the station “Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal” – served by the S11 S-Bahn, which runs from Bergisch Gladbach via Düsseldorf Central Station to the airport. At the eastern edge of the airport grounds there is also the long-distance station “Düsseldorf Flughafen”.

Long-distance station and SkyTrain

  • The long-distance station is served daily by numerous trains from regional expresses to ICE high-speed services.
  • The SkyTrain connects the long-distance station to the terminals in just around 7 minutes.
  • SkyTrain operating hours: daily from 3:45 am to 0:45 am, every 5 to 7 minutes.

By car via the A44

By car you can reach the airport comfortably via the A44 motorway, junction 31 “Flughafen Düsseldorf”. From there the signage to the car parks and terminals is clearly marked. Via the Düsseldorf-Nord motorway interchange the airport is also connected to the A52 and A57 – making the journey from Cologne, Duisburg, Essen or Wuppertal straightforward.

Tips for your journey

  • During peak travel periods allow plenty of extra time for traffic jams and finding a parking space.
  • For early-morning flights the train is often more relaxing than driving during rush hour.
  • It is best to reserve parking spaces online in advance.
